Update your summer playlist with hits by Canadian artists

Summer is about good times and good tunes. People dedicate hours towards building the best possible playlist, perfect for any summer activity. This summer the stakes are even higher. You’ll need the best lineup yet to help you celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday with true Canadian flare. Here at GLO, we’ve been known to have spontaneous office dance parties so we know a thing or two about perfecting playlists. Get inspired by some of our favourite hits to help start your own 2017 summer playlist.

Passionfruit by Drake

Could a Canadian summer playlist be complete without featuring the6 god at least once? The answer is no, sorry. Passionfruit has already taken over the radio and if it hasn’t found its way onto your phone yet, make sure it does ASAP!

Near to the Wild Heart of Life by the Japandroids

After a five year hiatus, the Japandroids came back with this catchy hit. This song will get you “all fired up” for any summer activity whether you’re embarking on a road trip or you’re in need of a midday pick-me-up.

Dirt Covered Rhinestone by Jade Mya

This country pop track will definitely get you up and dancing with friends. It’s catchy, it’s fun and best of all it encourages self-love and self-empowerment making it summer anthem material.

I’m the One by DJ Khaled ft. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne

Technically this song only features a Canadian artist but it’s so good we’re hoping you can forgive us. Channel DJ Khaled’s extravagant BBQ vibes and impress guests with your music taste by adding this song to your summer playlist.

Worth It by Wes Mason

Every year summer goes by way too quickly. Worth It is the perfect song for when you’re trying to slow things down. Produced here in Toronto, it’s an uplifting and hopeful self-reflection of relationships, essential for getting over your summer fling.

There’s Nothing Holding Me Back by Shawn Mendes

Don’t let anything hold you back this summer. Hike a new trail, explore a national park, learn how to paddleboard or even try all three. Play this song for inspiration and set out to accomplish all your summer goals.

We hope you enjoy our song suggestions. Comment below to let us know what songs you’ll be listening to this summer.

The Singles’ Valentines’ Day Playlist

By Leah Dermo

Somewhere between school and adulthood, Valentine’s Day went from a highly anticipated event where each student distributed personalized, hand-written Scooby-Doo cards, to a day that is increasingly dreaded by people (coupled and single) all over the world. If you’re in a relationship, this is often a day spent waiting in long lines outside of crowded restaurants and spending too much money while your bank account is still trying to recover from the holidays. On the other hand, if you’re single at this time of year, you’re probably sick of your friends setting you up on blind dates or your mom consistently asking if you’ve met someone yet. If you’re flying solo this Valentine’s Day,  we’ve compiled the ultimate V-Day playlist to get you through it and maybe even fall in love with February 14 all over again.
